Mumbai 26-11 EK HAADSA
On 26-11-2008 ten fidayeen terrorists sponsored by and coming in from Pakistan attacked Mumbai. They took 196 innocent lives and injured 308 persons. Within no time, our police force started their counter attack. The police officers were ill informed and not equipped with proper weapons, as a result our topmost police officers and policemen lost their lives. However they caught hold of one terrorist named Ajamal Kasab.
One book written in Marathi language by Shri .Sarjerao Kuigade on this issue is being published on 24-4-2010. For which features this book can be remembered?
The writer says, the terror attack of 26-11, rocked the whole nation. We woke for a while; we saw the terror on the screen of television, showed our anger, went to Gate way of India to light candles in memory of innocent people who lost their lives in the attack and our Jawans who threw their lives to save them. We went back to our homes and went to sleep again. We forgot everything we saw, read and experienced during the terror attack. This is Indian phenomenon. We are not in a habit of writing history, reading it and taking lessons from it. We are not aware of the fact that, if we are least concerned about history, then history repeats. Exactly that happened when there was bomb blast at German Bakery in Pune. What we learned from the past experience? Nothing!
This is the same thing written by Sarjerao Kuigade in his book called “MUMBAI 26-11 EK HAADSA’. The book has a foreword by shri.Arvind Inamdar ex Director General of police. Maharashtra State.
Sarjerao Kuigade has elaborated the whole incident of 26-11-2008 like a movie reeling before our eyes. He does not stop there. He raises certain questions and answers them. He pinpoints that the politics of ballot boxes by the ruling party is responsible for diluting stringent provisions in the Pota act; which gave strength to the terrorists.
The writer focuses all angles relating to terror acts. The various methods used by terrorists, their training programs, Pakistan’s hand in promoting terrorism, list of movies in English and Hindi on terrorism, various books on terrorism in English , renowned Women terrorists in the world.
He speaks about lapses of state government and central government, lack of coordination between various security agencies and secret agencies. He gives details e.g. dates and number of deaths in each of previous terror attacks in India.
He discusses the role of media in connection with the 26-11 terror attack, effects on minds of children who saw live telecast of the terror attack, ineffectiveness of News broadcasters association, Prime minister’s declaration regarding formation of National Investigation Agency.
Finally, the writer salutes police men, Jawans of various security agencies, fire brigade jawans, officers of bomb detection and defusing squad, doctors, nurses, common men like Vijay Surve who helped the security agencies in their combat against terrorism.
The salient feature of this book is the form of narration used by the writer. The whole story is narrated by five senior citizens who met every day at the top of one hill in the vicinity of Navi Mumbai. There is no doubt that the book will be widely read .
